Ahhh, welcome to an instant classic folks... The Tippmann 98 Custom
Paintball Gun. The "custom" part just means the amount of upgrades you
can get.
Here's the best beginner marker there is. Don't get
me wrong, this marker is for everyone at any experience
level, but this one is especially good for newcomers.
Why you ask? Well for a few simple reasons: It's
cheap, it's super durable and
so many people own it that you'll easily find help if
you need it! With just a few simple upgrades, you'll
have a cool looking M16 style gun.
Get down low in the brush... you and your squad of
friends determined to find that buddy that "talks a
little too much talk," - if you know what I mean ;). The
Tippmann 98 custom will solve many problems like that
and more!
So why is this marker right for you? Well here I'll
outline the pros, cons and features of the Tippmann 98. There are a
few different variations, so I'll make everything nice and
simple for you here, progressively getting into the nitty gritty. Sit back,

those of you that would like to pretend you understand, but really in fact

Upgrades note: This gun has a
lot of different upgrades. Before you go crazy and buy everything in sight, just
remember to consider just one or two upgrades at first to make sure you enjoy
having them. Sometimes people end up buying a lot of different upgrades and they
realize that that's not what they really wanted in the end.
A Tippmann 98 is great paintball marker stock... BUT, you can't go wrong with

Vertical Removable Fore-Grip -
For those "rambo" types out there that just hold
your marker with one hand the whole game! (or you
bought an upgrade)
Semi-Automatic
In-line Blow-Back Operation -
What this means is how the ball is fed and fired
from the chamber. Basically a mix of spring loaded
mechanisms(bolt) and compressed air.
Removable Feed Elbow - What
this means is that, if a paintball chops (breaks) in
the chamber, rather than having to take apart the
marker to clean it - you can remove the elbow, run
water through the gun to remove any debris, and then
keep going. Handy!
Adjustable Iron Sights - Allows
you to see straight down the barrel without any
cluttering of scopes, etc. Good for "on the move"
and quick shots.

Super Durable
Cheap - One of the cheapest guns on the market - $119 bucks!
200 Round Hopper
Upgradable & Customizable - There are so many upgrades to this
marker that it'll make your head spin! This a good thing for those that haven't
had any head spinning in your life. Make sure to get a new barrel and
expansion chamber, definitely recommended for everyone (will give you
better accuracy.
Uses HPA or CO2 Propellants
Popularity - This is good because if you're even in a bind -
there will
for sure be one person on the field that can help you out.
Lightweight
What's Not So Good?
The "stock" version of the 98 is good, but, consider getting some upgrades.
Getting a new barrel will ensure better accuracy, and is a recommended upgrade
right away
Some people say this gun is heavy - its 2.5 lbs - is that really heavy? No.
It'll take you about 45 minutes to take this thing apart at first. After awhile,
that will cut down to 15 minutes. There are a lot of small parts on the inside,
and it's not recommended to take it apart at the field.
Rating/Recommendations
I give the Tippmann 98 a 4.7 out of 5. Although an earlier
model and doesn't compare to the top guns out there, it's still great for
scenario/woodsball play. This is one of my top recommendations for entry
level players! You can smack the 98 custom around, drop it in dirt and
it still ticks. With a few simple upgrades, you can make the 98 a "4.9" hands
down. Take a look at the different kits and upgrades you can get... because the
list just goes on and on and on...
