~ Quick Start - Upgrades & Parts By Brand ~
~ Why Do I Need Upgrades? ~
Mr. Rookie
~ You don't need all these crazy upgrades right away
but there are a few you should acquire right off the bat
to add extra awesomeness to your marker. Depending on what marker you
own, or which one you're thinking about your paintball
marker will most likely need specific upgrades. You can
go to the Paintball
Gun Reviews page, find your marker and in there we have a list of the upgrades each individual gun will need.
Take my word for it, when you get a marker, usually the stock version isn't completely up to par. With just one or two small upgrades,
an entry level marker can perform as good as some of the best tourney markers. Yes,
upgrades do that, just as if you were to upgrade your vehicle.
When you're getting upgrades, instructions on how to install them will come with the upgrade. You don't need to be a mechanic or anything like that to do it, it's simple.

Barrels determine:
- How accurate the shot is
- How far the paintball goes (distance)
- How quiet the marker can be (silencer)
Barrels
are pretty much the most important upgrade, and is usually recommended with low
end markers. Barrels come in all types of shapes, sizes and colors. Some have holes in them to make the ball 'spin' when it comes out of the barrel, providing more accuracy.
If you have a Tippmann, the Flatline Barrel System is #1 out there right now. A barrel cover
or barrel sock will keep the end of your barrel covered just in case of an
accidental discharge. Barrel Socks are an absolute must when playing
paintball.
Your gun will most likely have barrel upgrades upgrade available ~ you can
find specific barrel upgrades for your marker here.
2. Hopper ~ Loaders
~ click for more info
Hoppers are the part of your gun that hold the actual paintballs. You'll hear the word 'loaders' mentioned as well.
Hoppers come in a few different kinds...
- Gravity Fed Hoppers ~ Paintballs naturally drop into the
chamber of your gun by gravity.
- Electronic Loaders ~ Electronic
loaders Feed
balls into your chamber faster and smoother then
regular gravity hoppers. This gives you an increased
rate of fire. Some electronic hoppers fire up to 20
+ balls per second....wow! So, if you're asking
yourself how do you get paintball marker to shoot
faster? Then Electronic Loaders are your answer.

- Q-Loader
~ Quickly becoming the
new norm. Feeds balls faster then any type of
loader (36 % faster than the Halo B and 58% faster
than the Evo II), it chops (breaks) less paintballs and
is more efficient. When you get a Q-Loader system,
it comes with everything you need to upgrade your
current marker. Also, if you're asking yourself if
paintball markers actually look like the one above, the
answer is yes.
3. Air ~ CO2 ~ HPA ~ Tank Covers

~ Browse All Air Products ~ Quality Air in Canada
Always a crucial decision. CO2 is Carbon Dioxide, HPA
is High Pressure Air. Generally, HPA has more power and
operates at a higher PSI. Air tanks is what make it so
your paintballs fly out of your paintball marker, it is
the primary source just like gun powder is for bullets. Read the
Guide for CO2 and HPA for Beginners for more information. These
are an important component when playing paintball
because you can't shoot paintballs without them.
A. CO2 ~ Tanks
~ click for more info
C02 is your original type of propellant, they have
been using C02 since the beginning of paintball. Some
markers only take C02 while others only take HPA, and
others can take both types. A good thing about C02 tanks
is that they are cheap and are usually around $20 bucks. C02 tanks are very durable
because they are constructed of steel, the negative side
to it being made of steel is that it adds to the overall weight of your marker.
B. HPA ~ Nitro Tanks
~ click for more info
One of the best things about HPA is that it is already in gas form, whereas C02 must transform from a liquid to a gas. HPA is much more stable and cleaner then C02 and you can usually get a higher consistency and more shots per fill.
On the downside HPA tanks are usually made of weaker
materials then it's steel C02 counterpart, thus
resulting in the creation of tank covers.
C. Tank ~ Covers
 ~ click for more info
When you're playing paintball, your paintball air
tank can take quite a beating. With all that pressure it
can be pretty serious thing to be banging it around.
Thankfully there are plenty of tank covers that you can
get to protect your tank. Plus tank covers can look
super cool with lots of sweet designs.
4. Hand Grips ~ Hand Guards
 ~ click for more info
Change your feel, color and grip. Some grips are made of 'plastic,' while
others feel more sticky and easy to grip ~ others are more durable then the ones
you get when you first got your gun. Get your marker first, use
it a few times and you'll know if the feel is right for you ~ especially if you
have big hands, grip upgrades work well, and you can get them in camouflage and
many different colors.
You can also get hand guards like the one in the
picture on the right. Hand guards help to steady the
marker while you aim and also help overall marker
balance.
