Upgrades/Kits, pros, cons, pictures and videos near the end of the page!
Howdy and welcome to my review of the Spyder MR2
w/Eyes, a popular paintball marker that derives from the
Spyder MR Series (MR1,
MR2, MR3, E-MR1). Here I will outline everything you need to know about
the MR2 and why you will be drooling to have one for
yourself!
Noobie Note: Extra bits of information are added for those of you that would like to pretend you understand, but really in fact have a lot of questions. No need to feel embarrassed, we all have to start somewhere!
See videos at the end of the review!
Don't you hate it when your
paintballs are chopping up in your marker and it's like
your spraying tossed salad? Well don't worry about it
anymore because spyder has implemented a Break
Beam Eye System (Anti-Chop) to the MR2. (Note:That's what I mean when I say Spyder MR2 w/Eyes).
One of
the best things about the Spyder MR2 is the price. I
mean at just a little over $250 bucks
it's pretty affordable and you're definitely getting
what you pay for and more (hey, that rhymed!).
The Spyder MR2 looks very MilSim
almost like a H&K UMP. The milling is anything from
exceptional but because the MR2 is made of almost all
metal, it is super durable, rugged and built to last.
The foregrip is the only part of the MR2 that is made of
hard plastic. Because the MR2 is made of mostly metal
it's a little hefty. But to reassure you, the Spyder MR2
is very well balanced. It fits nicely in the hands and
is great for snap shooting from behind trees, not to
mention the wicked stability while running and gunning!
The Spyder MR2 shoots fast, and I mean very fast, so unfortunately you
will have to upgrade your hopper to cope with the
25
balls per second it can shoot.
You'll also be very busy
trying out all the different modes of fire, there are 3
- Semi-Auto - Burst - and Full Auto.
Last but not least, and always one of my favorite
features, the Spyder MR2 is fully compatible with both
Co2 and HPA! The Spyder MR2 is one of the most popular
scenario MilSim markers out there right now so go try
one out!

Pros
Durable - Made of metal the Spyder MR2 isStrong like bull.
Affordable - You are definitely getting what you paid for here
Stock - The Spyder MR2 looks great right out of the box,
imagine it with upgrades...
Fast! - 25 balls per second means you will be painting
works of art all over your friends
MilSim - (Military Simulation) The Spyder MR2 looks very realistic
like real military weapons. This should be enough to suck in anyone new to scenario paintball.
Eyes - No more chopping paintballs and more time tagging
your friends!
Adjustable Trigger
Firing Modes - 3 of them will have you laughing all the way to the flag!
( Semi-Auto - Burst - Full-Auto). Also very easy to access the firing
modes.
Cons
Hopper - The Spyder MR2 absolutely needs an electronic
hopper to keep up with the 25 balls per second it can shoot.
Feed Neck Elbow - Pretty cheap and brittle
Heavy - The Spyder MR2 is a little on the heavier side, but
we are playing a very intense and exhausting sport right?
Barrel Shroud - There are some barrels that won't fit the
MR2 because of the barrel shroud.
Recommended Upgrades
I would definitely consider upgrading to the electronic hopper
the most...
Barrel - This is always the default upgrade of most
markers. It gives you even more accuracy because missing your target just wont
do!
Electronic Hopper - Anything that can stand up to 20+ balls per second, perhaps the Halo B?
Red Laser Dot - Hone in your accuracy even more!
Keep in mind these are all optional upgrades as the Spyder
MR2 is wicked sick right from the get go! For added performance though, I would suggest upgrading to the parts mentioned above.
Rating/Recommendations
I give the Spyder MR2 w/Eyes a 4.9 out of 5. I've docked the 0.1 points because you will need to upgrade your hopper so it can keep up with how fast the MR2 shoots!
I recommend this marker to anyone starting out in
scenario paintball. It's super fast ( 25+
bps), very durable, very reliable and most
of all looks freakin cool (pardon my French).
The Break Beam Eye System makes it so
you don't have to worry about balls being chopped so you
can spend more time kicking butt and taking names!
Also don't forget the Spyder MR2 can also be used for
tournament speedball because it is so fast. Let us all
just hope it's you with the MR2 and not your buddy.
